WHO ARE YOU BECOMING?

Identity Coaching & Career Reinvention

WHO YOU ARE, WHAT YOU CARRY FORWARD, WHAT YOU BUILD NOW

I’ve built a career around helping people answer the question, “What do you do?” Now that question is changing. Layoffs, AI, industries transforming in months instead of decades; the ground is moving under all of us. The people navigating it best aren’t the ones with the most polished resumes. They’re the ones who know who they are when the job title falls away.

That’s what we figure out here.

The Problem a Resume Can’t Solve

If you’ve landed on this page, some version of this is probably true:

  • Your industry is changing faster than you can keep up, and the job you’re qualified for may not exist in five years—or five months.
  • You were laid off, and you’re realizing you don’t want to fight your way back into the same role. You just don’t know what else you’d be.
  • You’re staring down retirement, an empty nest, or a business that no longer works, and the identity you built your life around is dissolving.
  • You’ve done everything right—the degree, the years, the salary—and you’re so invested in the path that walking away feels impossible, even though staying feels worse.

Here’s what I’ve learned after almost two decades of talking to people in these situations: the resume crisis is an identity crisis. When I hear someone tell me, “I need a new resume,” for a certain number of them, what they actually mean is, “I don’t know who I am in this new world, and I need someone to help me figure it out.”

A resume can’t answer that. This work can.

How identity coaching works:

The Becoming Method is a structured coaching process with three phases.

1. Identity first

Before we talk about jobs, businesses, or next moves, we get clear on who you are when the title is stripped away. The centerpiece is your IDENTITY RESUME—a document unlike any resume you’ve ever written. Not what you’ve done for employers. What you’ve built, survived, mastered, and loved. What people trust you with. What you can’t help doing. Most clients have never seen themselves on paper this way. It changes things.

2. Design the life

Now we get practical about what you actually want (vs. what you should want). The work you like doing and the people you like doing it with. The environment your mind and body need to do good work. What you’re willing to trade for money, and what you’re no longer willing to trade. This becomes your filter for every opportunity that follows.

3. Build the bridge

Reinvention isn’t about starting from zero. It’s connecting what you’ve been to what you’re becoming. This is what I’ve done in every career-change resume I’ve ever written: build the narrative that links two seemingly unrelated things so someone else can cross it. Now we build yours. You’ll leave with a concrete direction, a story you can tell out loud, and clarity about the next steps you’re taking.

Work Directly with Mir

I’m Mir Garvy and I built this business from nothing, served clients across the country, and watched the hiring world transform through the most rapid technological change in history—from inside thousands of careers.

In the last several years, I have seen just about every industry disrupted. Many people are being forced to make the choice to cling to what’s ending, or take what they’ve learned about people, work, and identity and build what comes next.

People tell me the same things over and over: “I feel seen.” “I would never have put it that way, but that’s exactly right.” “I finally feel like I can move forward.”

That’s the real product. The documents are just how we get there. My job is to hand you something that makes your anxiety smaller and your options clearer.

Who This Is For

This is structured, practical identity work with someone who has helped more people through career fear than almost anyone you’ll meet.

  • Mid-career professionals watching AI reshape their field, who want to get ahead of the change instead of underneath it.
  • The recently laid off who suspect the old path back isn’t the right one.
  • New and would-be solopreneurs and consultants who’ve never had to define, market, or run “themselves” before.
  • Retirees and near-retirees who want a LEGACY RESUME: a real accounting of a life’s work, and a map for who they’re becoming in their community, with their contributions, and with their time.
  • Anyone in transition who keeps asking “what’s next?” and hearing silence.

This is not therapy, and it’s not a job-search package (though if you need a traditional job-search resume at the end, you’re in the right place.)

The old advice was: pick a niche, stay in your lane, don’t change horses.

That world is changing quickly. The people who thrive in the next decade will be the ones who can live with uncertainty, know themselves deeply, and reinvent more than once.

That’s a skill. It can be learned. And it starts with one question:

Who are you becoming?
