Did you find us on Yelp? On Google? Through a friend or co-worker? However you ended up here, we’re glad you’re here. Whether you’re trying to get promoted at your company or transition into a new role or industry, let’s build a strategy that propels you forward.
It’s easy to schedule a call with us. When we talk, we’ll discuss your current situation and future goals. But until we can talk personally, we want to answer some of the questions you may have. Below, you’ll find some Frequently Asked Questions.
6 most common questions potential clients ask
Will we meet face to face?
We’ve learned that trying to make time to meet our clients in person just slows down the resume writing process. Since our goal is to finish your resume package as quickly as possible and get you on the job market right away, we will conduct all discovery and correspondence by phone and email based on our tested and proven resume writing and revision process.
What do you need from me?
Once we’ve both decided we’re a good fit and we want to work together, we will ask you to provide us with your current resume. If your resume is out of date, not to worry; we can use other methods to capture missing details. In addition, we’ll ask you to send us some job ads that are examples of the type of job you’re looking for. We’ll use these ads to drive the direction of your new resume.
How long does it take?
We will deliver the first version of your new resume in five to seven business days. You can take the time you need to review the resume, show it to trusted friends, and so forth. We’ll ensure that we’ve identified the right messaging, that we’re capturing all your relevant, transferable, and marketable skills, and that you like the overall design. Versions two and three typically go very quickly as we’ll really just be “fine tuning.”
How much does it cost?
Our rates vary based on your professional level and how many years of experience you have. Prices start at $399 (student rate) and our resume packages include bundled pricing. Also, your resume preparation fees may be tax deductible. Unemployed? Ask for a discount. We are happy to provide a quote when you call or email us.
How and when do I pay?
When you’re ready to get started, we will ask for your payment up front via PayPal. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can use a credit or debit card. If you are facing financial hardship, a payment plan can be arranged; just ask. We want you to have an effective resume because research shows that stronger resumes lead to shorter job searches and higher initial offers.
Will I be able to update it?
We will deliver your final resume in Microsoft Word and PDF formats. The Word version is your go-to for future updates and further keyword tweaking. We’ll also share our exclusive PDF guide, packed with job search advice. Also, as an added benefit, we’ll keep your resumes on file so if for any reason you ever lose your digital files, we can provide a back-up resume for you.
What about AI?
AI-informed keywords + human-generated storytelling = your best resume ever.
For years, employers have been using AI to analyze resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and other data sources to identify and screen potential candidates. With the rollout of free AI tools for job seekers, the playing field is as level as it’s ever been. This is an exciting development.
But the problem with AI-written resumes is that they are bland and generic. AI-generated resumes lack the personal stories, contextual achievements, and unique-to-you results and metrics that win over hiring managers and actually land interviews.
As it turns out, this is the part of resume writing that job seekers have always struggled with. And it’s where we excel. We have proven methods of—and years of experience in—helping clients recall, share, and elaborate on their biggest accomplishments and greatest successes. We know how to tell those stories in a way that is concise and impactful. Generative AI can’t do that.
That’s not to say that we don’t use AI. We do. We implement AI tools at the outset of each project to help us analyze job descriptions, extract key information, and pinpoint both key skills and critical skill-gaps. Then we write a first draft without AI assistance. Our resume content is 100% human generated and represents a collaborative effort between our clients and us.
Hiring managers are getting really good at spotting the distinctive tone of an AI-generated resume. We hear more and more often that AI-written resumes either seem like spam or come off as slapdash. Your job search is too important to risk having this type of negative first impression.
What you really want is the best of both worlds: AI-informed keyword optimization plus human-generated storytelling. That’s how you stand out from the crowd in today’s job market.
